The cooker is the primary appliance in all kitchens today.  For today's modern kitchens, there is a wide array of cookers one can choose from.

The very basic considerations when buying Range Cookers include how much you want to spend on a cooker and what kind of fuel you want your cooker to use.

When buying a cooker, you also need to consider your family size.  The more family members you have, the more cooking quantity you need to come up with.

Also, if you are buying a cooker because you want to be in the food business, then you definitely need to buy the bigger type cookers with more features and functionalities.

Size and Style of Cooker
Many modern kitchens are designed not just to be practically efficient but to be aesthetically appealing as well.  You can choose from free standing cookers or those built in as part of the general kitchen layout and design.  The typical size of free standing cookers ranges from 50 – 150 cm in width.  Some cookers are designed to build in open slots in the kitchen.

Gas Fueled Cookers
You may want to use gas fueled cookers if you want better control of the temperature.  But you need extra precautions when using gas as fuel.  It is recommended that you get professional help in setting up a gas cooker.

Electric Fuel Cookers
Cooking with electric power is clean, efficient and speedy.  The drawback with using electric fueled cookers is that the temperature may not be easy to control.

Dual Fueled Cookers
It is very common nowadays to buy cookers both fueled by gas and electricity.  You get more flexibility and cooking options.

Cooker Hobs
This can be a crucial consideration as there are different kinds of hobs depending on the kind of fuel the cooker uses.

The sealed plate hob is used with electric powered cookers where a plate is mounted over a heating device.  Cooking is effective because heat is evenly distributed.  The sealed plate hob is also easy to clean.

The radiant ring hob is composed of a metal ring that generates heat.  This is easy to heat up but may be slow to cool down.

The ceramic hob is very expensive as it uses halogen under a resistant glass.  The controls come in sensors and touch pads and this hob is very classy.  This is usually shipped with high class cookers.

Cooker Oven
The oven is part of the cooker system where you bake cakes, roast meat and other cooking styles.  You can choose from conventional gas or conventional electric ovens. Some ovens have fans to enhance cooking and can even do defrosting functions.

Microwave oven
The Microwave oven is a cooking device powered by electricity and uses radiation to cook or heat food.  Microwaves cook food every fast and easy but temperatures can be hard to control.

Grill
Many cookers have grills powered both by gas and electricity.

Cooker Controls
Older cookers have rotating knob-like controls to regulate flame intensity and temperature.  They are less precise compared to modern cooker controls that come in easy touch pad that have digital LED displays.  Most these digital controls have very subtle gradation when it comes to temperature.  They also feature timer controls so cooking time is very precise and energy saving.

Cooker Power Consumption and Energy Efficiency
There are standards for monitoring energy efficiency that you need to look out for.  Some grading standards have A to G rating with A as being the most energy efficient and cheap to work with while G as the most inefficient and most expensive to work with.
